Seminar - Getting to the roots of rot: phylogenomics of wood decay in mushroom-forming Fungi

THE UNIVERSITY OF BRITISH COLUMBIA
Department of Microbiology and Immunology
presents a seminar by:
Dr. David Hibbett
Professor, Department of Biology, Clark University
entitled:
Getting to the roots of rot: phylogenomics of wood decay in mushroom-forming Fungi

Dr. Hibbett's research interests include fungal evolution, ecology, and functional biology, with a focus on Agaricomycetes (mushroom-forming Fungi). A common thread uniting all of his work is a phylogenetic perspective, which is derived from analyses of molecular sequences. David takes an integrative approach to fungal biology, combining fieldwork and specimen-based studies with lab-based and computational studies of molecular evolution, development, and comparative genomics.
